FourPhase and ClampOn to collaborate on sand handling and measuring services
FourPhase provides sand management hardware, while ClampOn has sensors to measure the sand. The two Bergen-based companies plan to collaborate more closely in the future to extend their market reach and enhance customer value.
In early June we had an informal get-together with our friends in ClampOn to explore potential collaboration opportunities. We had a promising day together and hit it off so well that we published a LinkedIn-post on our intentions (link to LinkedIn post). Now is the time to give some background for why we are putting our heads together.
FourPhase and ClampOn are both in the sand management sector of the oil and gas industry. FourPhase provides the cyclones and separation equipment needed to remove sand and other solids from the well stream. ClampOn specializes in ultrasonic sensors and monitoring equipment for sand detection, erosion measurements and vibration sensing on subsea, topside, and onshore installations. FourPhase has used ClampOn sensors on their desanders since starting up in 2012.
Our colleague at ClampOn, Tonje Dahl, puts it like this: “Sand is our common denominator. We are in the same sector and complement each other’s products without being competitors. A collaboration will only bring benefits and added value for our customers.”

A clear goal for our collaboration
Being in the same sector and based in the same town, we share some history. FourPhase co-founder Anders Arefjord has a stint in ClampOn on his CV from his pre-FourPhase career. When FourPhase was established, we knew we needed to use ClampOn sensors from the start, and thus, we have had many interesting technical discussions with ClampOn engineers through the years. Needless to say, employees in both companies have at times worked for the other company.
The synergies in sand monitoring, management, and handling are obvious, and now is the time to act. In the coming year we intend to formalise our collaboration. How and in what areas will be the focus of our discussions? However, we have a clear common intent:
Extend our market reach, enhance the value we deliver to our customers, and continue to create new innovative solutions to drive technological advancements in sand management.
We have already planned our first milestone. On October 22nd, we will collaborate on Tech Day Aberdeen 2024 (link: https://www.clampon.com/events/tech-day-aberdeen), providing detailed insights into the benefits of our respective offerings and how they work together. ClampOn has been in the UK market for 26 years, and they have a strong record of accomplishment, as does FourPhase. With an established presence and office in Aberdeen since 2015, it makes sense to collaborate here to make the most out of our efforts.
Other milestones will follow as we explore the new possibilities of our collaboration, which will improve products and services for our customers. We look forward to working together and digging into the details!
